Ocean Ambassadors revealed

February 2019

The project

Through our parent agency, McKenna Townsend, we announced Olympic Sailor, Sir Ben Ainslie and his wife Lady Ainslie, were to be Ocean Ambassadors for the ocean conservation charity, the National Marine Aquarium (NMA)

Objectives

  • To raise awareness and generate positive media coverage following the appointment
  • To promote the NMA’s mission to connect young people and their families with the ocean and to promote pro-ocean behaviour

Delivery

  • Undertook comprehensive media relations programme to announce the new Ocean Ambassadors
  • Secured media interviews with Sir Ben and Lady Ainslie to discuss the appointment, including live broadcast opportunities at the NMA and a visit to a local primary school in Plymouth

Results

  • Over 250 pieces of coverage generated within 24 hours of the announcement, including Good Morning Britain, Daily Telegraph, tes and BBC Spotlight
  • 15 million opportunities to see and hear about the NMA and the Ocean Ambassador announcement
